Stokes Medical Center Park and Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital are dedicated to providing the highest quality wellness and rehabilitation to King and the surrounding triad area. Our staff of expert physical and occupational therapists, take a personal interest in our patients’ well being. Our staff has achieved high levels of training and further hone their skills through continuing education and advanced certifications.
We offer aquatic and land based outpatient therapy to the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations for treatment of orthopedic and neurological impairments. We also provide a wellness program to promote a healthier lifestyle. Emphasis is placed on full functional recovery of our patients so they may return to their previous occupational, recreational, and family activities. Our main goal is to serve the community with the most comprehensive, cost effective, individualized care to foster a healthy and productive lifestyle.
We are proud to offer Occupational Therapy Services and a Hand Therapist with many years of treating Upper Extremity conditions as part of the Physical Therapy Department. We also provide the following for our patients:
Splinting to support the correcting of a condition
Therapeutic exercises
Modalities to improve skin/joint conditions, these include ultrasound, iontophoresis, e-stim, biofeedback, paraffin, etc.
Instuction in joint protection/energy conservation techniques
Wound/scar Management
Resistive strength programs to restore the patient to their pre-injury level of function or just to improve their self-care status
Fine motor coordination
Sensory retraining/desensitization
The Hand Therapist is also able to provide traditional Occupational Therapy services as activities of daily living evaluations, instruction, neurorehabilitation for neurological and cognitive assessments and retraining.
