Inpatient Acute Care
The Acute Care consists of 25 beds which may be utilized for Acute or Swing Bed Patients.
Acute Patients:
The Acute patients generally consist of the following diagnosis: Pneumonia, Congestive Heart Failure, Urinary Tract Infections, Polynephritis, Kidney Stones, Bronchitis, Cellulitis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma, Wound Care, Pain Management, Failure to Thrive, Alcohol Detoxification, Dehydration, Gastrointestinal Problems, Diabetes, Palliative Care (End-of –Life), Non Invasive Ventilation Care (BiPAP) and other generalized medical problems.
Surgical Acute Patients:
The following are some of the surgical procedures that are available at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Inc.: Appendectomy, Hysterectomy, Ovarian Cyst Removal, Hernia Repair, Cholecystectomy, Hemorrhoidectomy, Exploratory Laparotomy, Colostomy or Colostomy Reversal, Simple Mastectomy, Amputations, Surgical Abscess Drainages, Pilonidal Cyst Excision and other procedures.
Swing Bed Patients: (Short Term Rehabilitative Care)
The Swing Bed patients generally consist of the following: Post Hip and Knee Surgery Recovery and Rehabilitation, Post Cerebral Vascular Incident Recovery and Rehabilitation, IV Antibiotic Therapy, Extended Wound Care Therapy, Post Feeding Tube Insertion Care, Post Acute Pre Nursing Home Placement (if requirements for admission are met), and General Rehabilitation after Sickness (if requirements for admission are met).
Respite Care:
Acute Care provides respite care as needed for residents of the community which provide relief for in home caregivers.
Social Services/Discharge Planning:
A Social Worker is available to assist the patients as needed with financial, social, physical needs, and home care needs to include: oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP, Nursing Care, in home Physical Therapy, and Medical equipment for the home.
Staffing:
The Acute Care Unit is staffed by Licensed Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants. We have available Licensed Physical Therapist and Therapy Aide available for those patients requiring physical therapy also. Occupational and Speech Therapy provide care on an as needed basis. A Registered Respiratory Therapist licensed by the State of North Carolina is available daily for patient’s respiratory needs. A Registered Dietician is available as needed for Dietary Consultation and Management.
